The Provence-Verdon FFC mountain bike area has more than thirty waymarked routes, starting from Gréoux-les-Bains and the neighbouring villages. From family green to the black that bites, there is something for every pair of legs. Here is how to find your way.
Choosing your route
The colours follow ski-run logic: green for a family outing on rolling tracks, blue for a first longer loop, red when it really climbs, black for those who know why they came. Every route is waymarked on the ground, and its listing gives the distance, the ascent and the starting point.

The right season
Spring and autumn are the best moments: the ground holds, the tracks are neither frozen nor baking, and the woods are rideable all day. In high summer, set off early and take more water than you think you need. Winter is still possible on the lower routes, but beware of the mistral on the ridges.
Where to repair, where to hire
Several local hire companies offer electric mountain bikes, which changes a great deal on the climbs of the Grand Tour. The tourist office keeps the list up to date, and the listings give the real opening hours, season by season.
